Tenney School Live isn’t just any Houston Online school. What separates us from the sea of other options is our unique learning platform and style. All of our classes are taught entirely one-to-one. This means that each and every student is learning synchronously, one-on-one with their teachers for all core academic subjects. We’ve found that students excel in this setting when learning remotely for a variety of reasons. The first and most important reason is class pace. Many students will come to our program with a unique learning style. This style is often times not accommodated in a larger classroom setting, let alone a typical online setting. Our program adapts to the student on the fly because of the one-on-one environment.
This means a gifted student can unleash their potential while a struggling student can slow things down and spend time on mastering concepts and skills. We will ensure engagement from the student and prioritize the student’s success. Another big benefit of our program is flexibility. While we primarily teach from 9 – 2pm, students can also choose to be a full-time or part-time enrollment with us. This makes us a perfect option for homeschooling families looking to take supplemental instruction, or full-time families looking to graduate with us!
How One-On-One Works
The core principal of everything Tenney does is one-on-one instruction. Beginning in 1970, The Tenney School pioneered and developed it’s in person model for over half a century. We decided to make our school more widely available through our online learning platform: Tenney School Live. This learning platform is the perfect environment for students desiring a more hands-on and engaging school experience.
On top of that, we also utilize shorter class periods to maintain student attention. Based on our research, we’ve found that 30 minute class periods are the perfect length for maximizing class instructional time before a student begins to lose focus.
A Private School Education at Home
Another big benefit to Tenney School Live is that all of our teaches are professional, private school teachers! These are the exact same teachers at our in person school: The Tenney School. Our teachers are specially trained to handle one-on-one learning and know how to work with a variety of different students! This means your getting a private school education from the comfort of being at home. Because of this, we hold our students to a higher standard than other Houston online schools.
We also have a variety of supplemental and additional programs that set us apart. One of the big highlights is our executive functioning program. Whether your in middle or high school, we teach, encourage, and develop executive functioning skills for all students.
