Online learning has grown rapidly into a true option for middle and high school families. It affords the flexibility for families that in-person environments just can’t achieve. For this reason, we want to illustrate why we: Tenney School Live, are unique and provide an educational experience that is unparalleled in both the online and in-person learning spaces.
The Tenney School Live Philosophy
Tenney School Live is built on the groundwork of The Tenney School. Each and every one of our core classes are taught entirely one-on-one. This means there’s one teacher teaching to one student in each online learning environment. So how does this work exactly? Let’s break it down:
Personalized Learning
Learning at Tenney School Live is entirely paced for the student. Since each class is taught one-on-one the student is able to move at a pace that works best for them. If the student is struggling, the teacher can slow the pace of the classroom down while if student is gifted, they can increase the pace! For this reason, we find that we are able to accommodate a wide range of students. From students with learning differences to gifted students in need of a challenge, our teachers can thrive with yours!
Flexible but Structured
Online learning environments inherently offer more flexible learning environments but can often times be less structured. Tenney School Live changes this by incorporating all classes as a synchronous learning environment. This allows each class to be taught in a live setting without sacrificing what makes online learning flexible. We can cater a student’s schedule to work around appointments, jobs, and other commitments too.

One-on-one instruction is indicated on the schedule for the core academic subjects (Math, Science, History, and English) while art is an optional, group-based elective.
How Does it Work?
I highly recommend checking out the video below which does an overview of the program and how it works for you and your family:
Tools and Platforms
Each and every student is provided a Chromebook (if needed), document camera, textbooks, and Office 365 account. This means your only requirement is a stable internet connection to connect to classes each and every day. Class sessions are held via Microsoft TEAMs and grades/assignments are updated on Blackbaud.
Blackbaud is our school’s software that completely digitizes your way with staying up to date. Teachers will update your student’s digital calendar with assignments and due dates while you can keep track of grades. You can even directly message your child’s teachers! Our goal is to be as transparent as possible during the school year.
